Use of buildings
Report for Annual Church Meeting 2004

From: Bridge Street: Reports for Annual Church Meeting

Over the last year the use of our buildings by both church organisations and outside agencies has continued to increase. The church uses the buildings for worship on Sunday mornings and some Sunday evenings, Scottish Dancing, Ladies Fellowship, Wednesday Reflections, Prayer Meeting, Bridge Street Players, Open House, Thursday and Saturday Coffee and Stepping Stones Youth Club.

Our premises are used by the following outside agencies on a regular basis: Andover Community Mental Health Team, Andover Mobile Creche, Club Hampshire, Andover Old Time Music Hall, The Over 60's Keep Fit Group, Andover Horticultural Society committee meeting, and the Andover Choral Society.

On a less regular basis we are used by: the Scouts, Anton WI, Early Education Dept of HCC, Women's World Day of Prayer, Mid Hants PCT and Guide Dogs for the Blind. The Cats Protection League, the Salvation Army, St Andrews' Church. Chernobyl Children's support group have all used our hall for sales in the past year.

With this amount of use it is important to book the premises as early as possible and to inform me if you are cancelling a booking. This is best done in writing and left in the pigeonholes or by phone when I can have the bookings diary beside me.

Small moan: it is very helpful if each user group leaves the building safe and clean; most do, some don't. Please ensure that all doors are closed and the outside doors are locked, all lights are switched off, heating is returned to the original setting and chairs are left safely stacked (i.e. in the Main Hall if chairs are stacked in 2s or 3s then a single chair is placed in front of the stack to ensure that they will not topple if people lean on them).

Thank you for all the help given by those who clean the building and assist in the moving of furniture especially Jan.

John Corrie.
