| | Bridge Street players Report for Annual Church Meeting 2004 From: Bridge Street: Reports for Annual Church Meeting
The Bridge Street Players began 2003 with the traditional pantomime. This year it was Aladdin (or A-la-din as he was often known) perfonned at Cricklade Theatre on the 17th and l8th January. We had a full house for the Saturday afternoon performance.
As we couldn't decide on a play to perfonn and with some people being unavailable, it was decided that the group would pull out of the drama festival this year despite winning two awards in 2002.
On the 7th June, June Bridge Street had a Wesley evening to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of John Wesley. Tom Hiscock presented the travel quiz 'Life and times of John Wesley', this was followed by the play 'How the Wesley's changed history', with a few 'extras' taking part. The following week, l4th June the Players went 'on tour' to Hebrews Meadows, Whitchurch to take part in the John Wesley's 300th Birthday party.
As we didn't go ahead with the longer Wesley play, it was decided that from September rehearsals would begin for the 2004 pantomime this year involving several children from the Stepping Stones Youth Club.
